Jessica has taught voice since 2010, and is interested in teaching beginning to advanced students who wish to excel in the theatre and/or popular music worlds.
She is a professional AEA singer, actor, and dancer, who has been seen in productions across North America and the U.K., including The Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, among others (see resume). She holds a BFA from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, and has studied voice for over 20 years with teachers such as Brian Schexnayder, who was a resident baritone of the Metropolitan Opera for 17 years, and Dr. Pam Phillips, who was the head of NYU/CAP21's voice program and the author of Singing For Dummies. Fun fact: Jessica is a demo voice on the Singing For Dummies CD.

Philosophy
Every student will have personal goals that we will work together to identify and achieve. However, the overarching objective of our lessons will be creating and maintaining healthy vocal technique, with emphasis on exploring and expanding your range, as well as exploring the full spectrum of colors your voice can healthily produce in order to achieve easy access to many styles of music. Though our lessons are not vocal coachings, we will definitely apply technique to your existing repertoire, in addition to finding/preparing new material that shows you off and challenges you as a singer. I believe that vocal technique and acting of a song should go hand-in-hand.
Lesson Layout
I offer one-hour, 45-minute, and 30-minute lessons, which are detailed as follows:
45-min and one-hour lessons are broken down into two sections: the first, working on breathwork and vocalises (or "warm-ups") to build a healthy foundation, and the second, working on repertoire. I recommend 45-min and one-hour lessons to be the bulk of your lessons, as they provide enough time to work on building and applying technique.
30-min lessons will focus on either vocalises or repertoire, depending on your personal objective for the lesson. These half-hour lessons are great for quick audition material prep, or if you'd like a thorough warm-up before an audition/performance.
